PNU officially opened its Humanoid Medical Robotics Center at Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital on September 3, alongside an ARPA-H Mini Showcase highlighting the latest progress in medical robotics.

The new center will connect real-world clinical needs with PNU’s expertise in AI, robotics, and biomedical research, with a particular focus on assistive medical technologies that could help address shortages of medical specialists and surgical support staff. It will also serve as a hub for expanding interdisciplinary research and training the next generation of medical robotics specialists.

At the opening ceremony, Center Director Eui Suk Sung, professor of otolaryngology at Pusan National University Yangsan Hospital, shared the center’s research progress and future direction, followed by a plaque unveiling and ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The event continued with a Korean-style ARPA-H Mini Showcase modeled on the U.S. ARPA-H approach, where participants observed preclinical demonstrations of humanoid medical robotics technologies currently under development and explored their potential for future clinical applications.

Through the new center, PNU will continue to strengthen research in humanoid medical robotics and physical AI, bringing together clinical experience, engineering expertise, and university research to move advanced robotics closer to real-world healthcare.
